[ARCHIVED] September Is Library Card Sign-Up Month!

Libraries Empower

September is library card signup month! Library cards are free and anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in the city of Royal Oak is entitled to a Royal Oak library card (regardless of age.) Did you know that the library offers more than just books? Check out a telescope, camping chair, or even an air fryer! Visit us (or your local library) during library card signup month and learn about the many benefits of owning a library card - please see the Circulation Desk for details or click HERE to apply online.

As kids head back to school, there’s no better time for them to discover the treasures awaiting them in their local library. A library card can be a rite of passage for your child, giving them a sense of obligation and responsibility. Visiting your local library also encourages children to read. Reading helps brain development and provides a solid foundation of language and literacy skills. Opening a book encourages children to travel to far away places and let their imagination sore.

Visit your local library to get your library card today!
