To improve the city’s health, safety, and cultural opportunities by inspiring the philanthropy of residents and business leaders to support a  thriving, resilient community.

As a formal 501 (c) 3 non-profit the foundation will facilitate increasing philanthropic giving to enhance the community.  It will primarily support city entities that receive little or no tax-base funding and innovative community projects that improve the quality of life in our city.  


  1. Setting up customer relationship management (CRM) software for for more robust communications. This will support the combined efforts of the Royal oak Civic Foundation and the city entities that it supports.
  2. Planning for the 2022 Shop with a Hero event 
  3. Planning for year-end fundraising efforts for local city entities


Grant award: New keyboard at the M/M Senior Community Center-April 2022 

Thank You, Royal Oak! Your generous unrestricted donations allowed the trustees' to approve a grant request for a new keyboard for the Mahany/Meininger Senior Center. The keyboard will be used for events and for music classes.

Fight Local Hunger Crowd-funding Campaign-Spring 2021

The Royal Oak Civic Foundation partnered with three local food pantry charities to raise money for food insecurity in our community.  The foundation committed match funding of up to $2,500 for each of the charities.  The campaign realized more than $20,000 to fight hunger in our community.!!

Shop with a Hero event - Dec. 7, 2021

The Royal Oak Civic Foundation (ROCF) and Meijer are teaming-up to provide more than 50 local families access to the Shop with a Hero event. Meijer, which has sponsored it for the past 20 years, will contribute $100 per family.  The ROCF will match Meijer's funds up to $6,000 doubling the money for each family.

Over the next year, we hope to support community tree planting to increase the city's canopy for multiple sustainability benefits and to offer small grants to the ROCF-supported city groups so they can thrive, not just survive.

The Royal Oak Civic Foundation was the recipient of $6,500 from the Arts, Beats, and Eats Foundation's 2021 donations pool.

The Royal Oak Civic Foundation was the recipient of $ 10,000 from the Royal Oak Police Department's 2021 Annual Golf Outing proceeds.
