[ARCHIVED] Storm Update

Winter Branches

Over the next few days, DPS crews will be driving through neighborhoods and collecting storm debris from public right-of-way (ROW) trees.

ROW trees, also referred to as city trees, are those trees planted in the area between the sidewalk and the curb.

Storm-damaged branches from trees on private property (backyards and front yards), which are 2”-5” in diameter and cut into sections 4’ or less, can be placed for curbside collection during yard waste collection season, beginning on April 1.

Alternatively, SOCRRA will permit residents to drop off up to 10 bags of yard waste per day at its Troy transfer station, 995 Coolidge Rd, through April 1. There is not a fee and no appointment is needed for yard waste drop off.

Large branches and limbs from private property may be disposed of through private chipping companies.

PLEASE prioritize your safety first! Due to the extreme cold, wait for a warmer day/week to tackle the this task. Cold-related dangers, such as frostbite and hypothermia, are dangerous conditions that can happen when a person is exposed to frigid temperatures. Stay safe.

To report fallen limbs from city trees or other storm-related hazards, contact the public services department at 248.246.3300 or dps@romi.gov.

Crews will continue to monitor and salt roads on hills, curves, and intersections citywide.
