Construction Project Updates


Residents on affected streets were mailed construction notices in the Spring with detailed information on the project.

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. If you have questions you can contact the Engineering Division at 248.246.3260.

CAP1908/09 14 Mile Road Resurfacing Improvements

The city's contractor will continue restoration and punch list items.

CAP1935 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.


The week of August 26th, the contractor will be preparing and pouring the new concrete road pavement on the east side of Benjamin near 13 Mile Road. The contractor will also begin removing and replacing the pavement under the railroad bridge on the east side.

On W Houstonia Ave, the contractor will continue work on the south side of the roadway, working on new curbing and driveway approaches.

Restoration work will continue on Fernlee Ave, Nakota Road, and Massoit Road.

Any property owners' driveway access that will be affected will receive a door hanger notice at least 24 hours in advance.

CAP1905 Concrete Pavement Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Inc.


The week of August 26th, the contractor plans to continue working on the project streets north of 14 Mile Road. Once complete, they will return to the remaining project streets south of 14 Mile Road.

Any property owners' driveway access that will be affected will receive a door hanger notice at least 24 hours in advance.

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries Inc


The contractor will be working on restoration and punch list items the week of August 26th.

CAP1910 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.


The week of August 26th, the contractor will begin pavement removals and water main installation on S. Blair Avenue.

Property owners will be notified via door hanger the day beforehand if they will be affected by any water shut-offs.

The contractor also plans to work on pavement restoration on the south side of Normandy Road.

The contractor will be doing landscape restoration work on Albert, Judson and Rockingham.

CAP1907 Normandy Road Improvements

Greenfield Road to Woodward Avenue
Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries


Construction operations will close Normandy Road to thru traffic. Residents with driveways on Normandy Road will be allowed access from their nearest side street, all other traffic will be prohibited.

The contractor has begun pavement removals on the north side of the roadway to begin preparing the road base for new pavement. New curb & gutter and edge drains will be installed along the entire length of the road.

Any property owners' driveway access that will be affected will receive a door hanger notice at least 24 hours in advance.

MDOT Construction News


Changes starting this week on segment 3 of the I-75 modernization project in Oakland County


  • Segment 3 involves rebuilding more than 5 miles of I-75 between 8 Mile and 13 Mile roads.

  • Starting Tuesday, Aug 27, prep work will require overnight double-lane closures on the southbound lanes.

  • Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3, the Dallas Avenue overpass will be closed.
Please note that construction schedules are tentative, and may change based on weather delays, subcontractors or substantial field modifications. These updates are based on the information currently available.
