Construction Project Updates


Residents on affected streets were mailed construction notices in the Spring with detailed information on the project.

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. If you have questions you can contact the Engineering Division at 248.246.3260.

CAP1908/09 14 Mile Road Resurfacing Improvements

Greenfield Road to Crooks Road

City Contractor: Pamar Enterprises, Inc


The city's contractor will be waiting to continue lawn restoration work for more favorable weather.

CAP1935 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.


The contractor plans to begin work on Benjamin Avenue the week of July 29th. They will begin excavation on the east side of Benjamin Avenue between Starr Road and 13 Mile Road for the installation of a new sewer main. The westerly lane will remain open to traffic to provide access for residents. The contractor will provide access to the first parking lot north of 13 Mile Road, on the east side of Benjamin. All other residents on the east side of Benjamin can access their parking areas via Starr Road.

The contractor also plans to work on Massoit Road, preparing the east side driveway approaches for new concrete.

Minimal work will be performed on the other project streets the week of July 29th.

CAP1905 Concrete Pavement Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Inc.


The contractor plans to continue pavement work on the other halves of the project streets south of 14 Mile Road and north of Normandy Road the week of July 29th. When finished the contractor will continue on the north side of 14 Mile Road.

Work has been postponed on the project streets near Massoit Road, until that street is fully re-opened.

If driveway access will be affected, residents will receive a notice via door hanger the day beforehand. The contractor will only work on one side of the street at a time, to maintain access for residents.

CAP1915 Asphalt Resurfacing

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries Inc


Restoration work will start on the project streets in the coming weeks. The restoration contractor will be picking up debris and wood chips, grading disturbed lawn areas and restoring with topsoil and seed.

CAP1910 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.


The week of July 29th, the contractor plans to continue connecting water services to the new water main on Normandy Road.

Concrete work on Judson Avenue is mostly complete.

On Albert Avenue, the contractor tentatively plans to work on concrete restoration.

No work is planned for the other project streets the week of July 29th.

CAP1907 Normandy Road Improvements

Greenfield Road to Woodward Avenue
Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries


The city will be resurfacing Normandy Road from Greenfield Road to Woodward Avenue this fall. The city opted to add this project for 2019 due to the availability of funding for major road improvements.

Work is scheduled to begin in late August, after the Dream Cruise.

The constructions operations will close Normandy Road to thru traffic. Residents with driveways on Normandy Road will be allowed access from their nearest side street, all other traffic will be prohibited.

Construction to Begin at 10 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue

Contractor: C.A. Hull Co


Beginning Tuesday July 30th, The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be making safety improvements around the Woodward-10 Mile intersection. The improvements include minor road reconfiguration, sidewalk improvements and signage that will make safer turning and pedestrian movements.

There will be single-lane closures on the northbound and southbound Woodward Avenue service drives, and lane closures on the eastbound I-696 service drive (10 Mile Road) and Washington Avenue. There will be multiple and frequent changes to lane closures in these areas. Drivers are advised to pay attention to the portable message signs on each roadway advising of the changes.
