Construction Project Updates


Residents on affected streets were mailed construction notices in the Spring with detailed information on the project.

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. If you have questions you can contact the Engineering Division at 248.246.3260.

CAP1908/09 14 Mile Road Resurfacing Improvements

Greenfield Road to Crooks Road

City Contractor: Pamar Enterprises, Inc


The city's contractor will be finishing restoration work and removing traffic control devices the week of July 22nd.

14 MILE ROAD IMPORTANT UPDATE:


The city originally planned to resurface 14 Mile Road from Greenfield Road to Crooks Road this summer, but the contractor bids for the road work were significantly over budget. The city has temporarily cancelled the project and will re-bid the work for spring/summer 2020 construction. The water main projects on 14 Mile Road are now complete, and 14 Mile Road will remain open to traffic until road work resumes next year.

CAP1935 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.


The week of July 22nd, the contractor will pour the new pavement on the east side of Massoit Road. The road will remain closed for one week while the new pavement cures.

The contractor also plans to work on the south side of W Houstonia replacing curbing and driveway approaches.

On Fernlee and Nakota the contractor plans to work on replacing the sidewalk ramps.

No work will be performed on Benjamin the week of July 22nd.

CAP1905 Concrete Pavement Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Inc.


The contractor plans to finish pavement work on the project streets south of 14 Mile Road and north of Normandy Road the week of July 22nd, and then begin work on the streets north of 14 Mile Road.

Work has been postponed on the project streets near Massoit Road, until that street is fully re-opened.

If driveway access will be affected, residents will receive a notice via door hanger the day beforehand. The contractor will only work on one side of the street at a time, to maintain access for residents.

CAP1915 Asphalt Resurfacing

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries Inc


The contractor has finished paving all the project streets and plans to start on restoration work and punch list items the week of July 22nd.

CAP1910 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.


The week of July 22nd, the contractor plans to begin connecting water services to the new water main on Normandy Road.

The contractor also plans to pour the south side driveway approaches on Judson and Albert Avenues.

MDOT

Construction to Begin at 10 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue

Contractor: C.A. Hull Co


Starting the week of July 22nd, The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be making safety improvements around the Woodward-10 Mile intersection. The improvements include minor road reconfiguration, sidewalk improvements and signage that will make safer turning and pedestrian movements. Ultimately, southbound Washington at Woodward will become two travel lanes crossing northbound Woodward to allow for widened sidewalks across Woodward.

During construction, traffic lanes will be reduced on Woodward Avenue, 10 Mile Rd.-the I-696 service Drive and Washington Avenue.  It is expected to be completed in October.
