Construction Season Begins


Residents on affected streets will be mailed construction notices in the Spring, prior to work beginning, with detailed information on the project.

The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project. If you have questions you can contact the Engineering Division at 248.246.3260.

CAP1908/09 14 Mile Road Resurfacing Improvements

Greenfield Road to Crooks Road

SOCWA Contractor: Verdeterre Contracting, Inc.

City Contractor: Pamar Enterprises, Inc


This project includes work in conjunction with the South Oakland County Water Authority, Michigan Department of Transportation and the Road Commission for Oakland County.

14 Mile Road will be under construction for most of the 2019 construction season, with traffic often limited to one lane in each direction. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes during construction, especially during rush hour. For more information regarding the complete scope of the project, visit:

The city's contractor will continue working near Cooper and Elmwood, excavating and installing new water main, the week of April 15th.

SOCWA's contractor will continue construction on their water main, primarily working to the east of the rail road bridge.

The current lane closures will remain, with the below restrictions:

  • 14 Mile Road traffic is shifted to the north side lanes of the CN railroad bridge with one lane of travel open in each direction
  • NO LEFT TURNS are allowed onto southbound Coolidge from westbound 14 Mile Road
  • North Coolidge Highway is reduced to one right turn lane and one left turn lane for traffic heading south onto 14 Mile Road

CAP1935 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.


Notice of Construction letters have been mailed to property owners on affected streets. The contractor will begin mobilizing and saw-cutting the week of April 15th. Residents who had a city tree removed adjacent to their property will have a choice to plant a new tree towards the end of the project, when restoration begins.

CAP1915 Asphalt Resurfacing

Construction notices have been mailed and the contractor tentatively plans to begin work the week of April 22nd.

CAP1910 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting Inc.


The contractor plans to mobilize and begin work on Albert Avenue the week of April 15th.

CAP1806 S. Campbell Road Resurfacing

10 Mile Road to 11 Mile Road

Contractor: Iafrate Construction Company


The week of April 15th, the contractor will continue on the remaining work on S. Campbell Road which includes:

  • installing two pedestrian refuge islands near 6th Street and Brockton/Dallas
  • install the new traffic signals at 4th Street
  • place the permanent road striping on the roadway
  • Complete lawn restoration and punch list items

No lane closures are expected as the contractor will be working within the center turn lane on the pedestrian refuge islands.
