Improving Royal Oak

Construction Project Updates

This will be the final e-blast for 2018 as the construction season is quickly winding down. There are still some remaining punch list items on several projects that will be handled this fall or possibly in the spring depending on the weather. S. Campbell Road is the only project that will continue major work items in the coming weeks.

CAP1806 S. Campbell Road Resurfacing

10 Mile Road to 11 Mile Road

Contractor: Iafrate Construction Company

The west half of S. Campbell Road is closed for second phase of construction, and traffic is currently shifted to the east side of the road. One lane is open in each direction. The following left turns are not allowed during this phase of construction:

  • Northbound and southbound Campbell Road at 11 Mile Road
  • Eastbound Lincoln Avenue at S. Campbell Road
  • Northbound and southbound Campbell Road at Lincoln Avenue

In the next couple weeks, the contractor plans to install the remaining curb and gutter along the west side of the street.  Afterward, the asphalt pavement will be milled off on the west half of the street, and driveway approaches and sidewalks will be installed.

The contractor hopes to place the bottom layer of asphalt on the west half of the road and the top layer of asphalt across the entire road before Thanksgiving.  Once this is complete, the road lanes will be painted with one lane in each direction, a center turn lane and bike lanes on each side of the road.

In the spring, the contractor will be back to install a new traffic signal at E. Fourth Street, final striping and to install pedestrian refuge islands if they are not installed this season.
