Improving Royal Oak

Completed Streets

Many city projects are substantially complete, except for restoration. The city allows contractors to wait until after Labor Day for grass restoration to allow for more favorable weather conditions.

CAP1735 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.

Batavia Avenue

The contractor plans to install driveway approaches during the week of August 28th, tentatively scheduled for Thursday. Driveways will be closed over the holiday weekend.  The contractor will clean up Batavia Avenue to allow for resident permit parking on both sides of the street over the Arts, Beats and Eats festival weekend.

Dallas Avenue

The contractor will continue transferring individual water services to the new water main during the week of August 28th and is scheduled to complete the final water main connection later in the week. The contractor will individually inform residents when their water supply will be shut off, which typically lasts 1 to 2 hours. The contractor also tentatively plans to install storm sewer during the week, in the area east of Lenox Avenue.

Fairview Avenue

The contractor is scheduled to pave Fairview Avenue the week of August 28th. The road will be closed for one week to allow for the concrete to cure.

Kalama Avenue and Brinkey Avenue

Both streets have been paved and are currently curing. The contractor plans to place concrete for a pull-off lane along the school property during the week of August 28th and will install driveways and sidewalk afterward. Residents will be able to park on the street by Wednesday. There are several flags of sidewalk that were removed by Consumers Energy for the gas main work and Consumers Energy is responsible for replacing this concrete.

Lockwood Avenue

The contractor plans to begin transferring individual water services during the week of August 28th. The contractor will individually inform residents when their water supply will be shut off, which typically lasts 1 to 2 hours. Some concrete will be removed on the east side of the road to allow for excavation of each water service. These areas will be back-filled with stone to allow for vehicle access.

Orchard Grove Drive

The water main work is now complete. The contractor plans to install the stone road base material during the week of August 28th. Consumers Energy will be onsite to lower some shallow gas services that cross the roadway; paving cannot take place until this work is completed.
