CAP1715 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries, Inc.

The contractor is planning to place a rejuvenating agent on all the newly paved streets to help extend the pavement life next week, likely Monday and Tuesday. After spraying on the treatment, sand will placed on the road to provide grip on the slick surface while the treatment is absorbed. Sand will be removed within 24 hours, once the treatment has had time to soak into the new pavement. There will be “No Parking” signs put in place at least 24 hours in advance to ensure all vehicles are off the roadway for this 1-day operation. The contractor will be handing out flyers to residents as well. Vehicles will still be able to drive along the roadways at a slow speed.

The contractor has finished restoration on all project streets. The contractor will water the restored areas throughout the summer until grass is established. Residents are encouraged to water the seeded areas as well.

The contractor will work on minor punch-list items for the project for the next couple weeks.

CAP1735 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.

Batavia Avenue

The contractor plans to finish all water main connections during the week of July 31st and plans to complete storm sewer and sanitary sewer improvements by the end of the week. The contractor will remove curbing and driveways along the roadway. Driveway approaches will be filled in with stone for resident access.

Dallas Avenue

The contractor plans to begin water main installation on Monday July 31st between Helene Avenue and Stephenson Highway. The new water main will be installed primarily in the north greenbelt of Dallas Avenue.

Fairview Avenue

The contractor has placed the road base material along Fairview Avenue. The road will be formed and paved after Kalama Avenue and Brinkey Avenue are paved and cured; at least two weeks from now.

Kalama Avenue and Brinkey Avenue

The contractor has prepared the road base material, and plans to begin forming for paving operations during the week of July 31st. Concrete placement for the roadway is tentatively scheduled for the end of the week or early following week. The pavement will remain closed for one week after concrete is placed to allow for curing. All paving work on these streets is scheduled to be completed by mid-August before school activities begin for the year.

Lockwood Avenue

Pavement removals are scheduled to begin the week of July 31st toward the end of the week. Pavement will only be removed to allow for water main installation at this time, primarily on the west side of the roadway. Driveway approaches that are removed will be filled in with stone to allow for resident access. Water main installation is tentatively scheduled for the second or third week in August.

CAP1630 Special Assessment Paving Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.

Girard Road & Public Alley - from Whitcomb Ave. to Millard Ave.

Sod for Girard Road is expected to be completed during the week of July 31st and the contractor plans to move to the public alley afterward for cleanup and restoration.

S. Edison Avenue and W. Park Avenue

The contractor will continue placing topsoil on these streets and is scheduled to place sod after Girard Road and the public alley are sodded.

Public Alley - 14 Mile Road to Rochester Road (behind businesses)

The contractor tentatively plans to begin work in the next couple weeks.

Orchard Grove Drive

The contractor tentatively plans to begin water main work during the week of July 31st. Three trees will be removed as part of this project and they are scheduled to be removed on Monday.

The contractor will work to cleanup, remove traffic control devices and signs, and perform minor punch-list repairs throughout the project streets for the next few weeks.

CAP1535 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Hard Rock Concrete, Inc.

Sherman Drive Construction

Sherman Drive is now open to traffic. Sod restoration is planned for September.

Linwood Avenue Construction

Linwood Avenue is completed and will be fully open to traffic during the week of July 31st. Sod restoration is planned for September.

CAP1710 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: F.D.M. Contracting, Inc.

Bellaire Avenue

All concrete has been placed on Bellaire Avenue and barrels will be removed by next Wednesday. The contractor plans to finish asphalt patching work along the north property lines during the week of July 31st.

The contractor plans to wait until September for restoration on all project streets (Ferris, N. Vermont, Bellaire and Rochester).

CAP1505 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Co., Inc.

The contractor plans to finish road intersection work (a quarter of the intersection) during the week of July 31st. Hickory, Marais and Galpin will be worked on starting in mid-to-late August.

2017 Sidewalk Improvement Program

Contractor: Italia Construction, Inc.

The contractor has finished most of the work for the sidewalk program and will be performing minor punch-list work during the week of July 31st.
