CAP1715 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries, Inc.


Phases 1, 2 and 3 have been paved. The contractor has started placing topsoil and seed on Phase 1 and 3 streets, and will move to Phase 2 streets afterward. The contractor will water the restored areas throughout the summer until grass is established. Residents are encouraged to water the seeded areas as well.

The concrete curb work on Phase 4 streets will be completed this week. The contractor plans to mill the asphalt on Thursday July 6th, and tentatively plans to complete the paving work on these streets the following week.

The contractor is not planning to work over the July 4th holiday weekend (July 1 – July 4).

CAP1735 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.


Batavia Avenue

The contractor plans to begin water main connections and water service transfers to the new water main after the July 4th holiday. Properties that will be without water during connections will be notified via door hanger the day beforehand. Shutdowns are typically 4 to 8 hours long.
  

Dallas Avenue

The contractor tentatively plans to begin work on Dallas Avenue the week of July 17th.

Fairview Avenue

The contractor has completed underground utility installations and pavement removals, and will be preparing the roadway for paving.

Consumers Energy has located a shallow gas main that requires replacement in the cul-de-sac portion of Fairview Avenue. The contractor plans to wait until Consumers Energy has repaired the existing gas main, and then pave all of Fairview Avenue at one time.

Paving is tentatively scheduled for the week of July 10th.


Kalama Avenue and Brinkey Avenue

The contractor plans to begin underground utility installations on Kalama Avenue between Brinkey Avenue and Stephenson Highway after the July 4th holiday. The remaining pavement will be removed on Kalama Avenue and Brinkey Avenue after utility work is completed. 
 
Residents will receive door-hanger notices 24 hours in advance when driveways will be unavailable.

CAP1630 Special Assessment Paving Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.


Public Alley - East of Rochester Road, from Whitcomb Ave. to Millard Ave.

The majority of work is completed. The contractor will place topsoil and sod in disturbed areas in the coming weeks.


S. Edison Avenue

The roadway pavement has been placed, and the road will be open to local traffic on Monday July 3rd. The contractor will joint-seal the new pavement later in the week and will post “No Parking” signs for this one-day operation.

All work on 11 Mile Road is finished and the contractor will reopen all of 11 Mile Road to two-way traffic starting today, Friday June 30th.

The contractor plans to start preparing for driveway approaches and sidewalk work after the holiday weekend.


Wrenford Road, Massoit Road, Bassett Road, Girard Road

Topsoil has been placed on Wrenford Road, Massoit Road, Basset Road and Girard Road. Sod placement is now scheduled to be placed after the holiday.

W. Park Avenue

The roadway pavement has been placed, and the contractor tentatively plans to install driveway approaches and sidewalk during the week of July 10th. The road will be open to local traffic on Monday July 3rd. The contractor will joint-seal the new pavement later in the week, and will post “No Parking” signs for this one-day operation.

Public Alley - 14 Mile Road to Rochester Road (behind businesses)

The contractor tentatively plans to begin work in the alley the week of July 10th.

Orchard Grove Drive

The contractor tentatively plans to begin water main work the last week of July.

CAP1535 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Hard Rock Concrete, Inc.


Sherman Drive Construction

The contractor has finished the remaining sidewalk installation and Sherman Drive is now open to traffic. The city plans to install the remaining “No Parking” and street signs along Sherman Drive in the next few weeks. Sod restoration is planned for September.

Linwood Avenue Construction

The contractor plans to pour the west half of Linwood Avenue after July 4th. The contractor will install the east half of the road the following week. Once all roadway concrete has been placed, the road will remain closed to all traffic for one week while the concrete cures.
 
Residents have been authorized to park in the Shrine Grade School parking lot as needed during construction.

CAP1710 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: F.D.M. Contracting, Inc.


Bellaire Avenue

The contractor plans to finish placing the other halves of driveway approaches and sidewalk after the July 4th holiday.


Rochester Road

The contractor plans to finish the remaining concrete roadway repairs after July 4th. All the driveway approaches that are currently closed will be open for vehicles on Monday July 3rd. Asphalt repairs will be performed within the next couple weeks.

Public Alley - W Sixth Street to W Seventh Street, east of Washington Ave.

All work is complete and the alley is now open to traffic.

CAP1505 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Co., Inc.


The contractor will continue working on the streets north of 12 Mile Road after July 4th, working on the first half of each street. The contractor does not plan to work on Monday July 3rd.

2017 Sidewalk Improvement Program

Contractor: Italia Construction, Inc.


The contractor will continue sidewalk work on major roads and will start new sidewalk installation (where none previously existed) within the next couple weeks. More information on the program can be found at www.romi.gov/sidewalks.
