CAP1715 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries, Inc.

Phase 1 paving work is complete.

The contractor plans to finish paving streets in Phase 2 before the holiday weekend. Residents will be able to access their driveways during the paving work, but there may be slight delays while waiting for equipment to move.

The contractor plans to begin curb replacement work on Phase 3 streets after Memorial Day.

The contractor will wait to place sod / seed for Phases 1 and 3 until the sidewalk program in the area is complete to avoid damaging newly restored areas. More information regarding the sidewalk program is available below.

CAP1735 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.

Batavia Avenue

The contractor will continue water main installation, which will extend into June.

Several water services on Batavia have galvanized piping, which is typically fragile and prone to breaks. If a water service breaks during construction, the city will perform an emergency shutdown. Emergency shutdowns for service repairs typically last about 2 hours. As the contractor comes across galvanized water services, the city will notify individual residents.

Fairview Avenue

The contractor is planning to begin work on Fairview Avenue after Memorial Day.

The remaining streets are scheduled to be reconstructed in the following order:

Dallas Avenue: Helene Avenue to Stephenson Highway
Kalama Avenue: Brinkey Avenue to Stephenson Highway
Brinkey Avenue: Kalama Avenue to Harwood Avenue
Lockwood Avenue: Catalpa Drive to Crane Avenue

CAP1630 Special Assessment Paving Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.

Bassett Road

Basset Road has been paved, and is open to local traffic only. The contractor plans to pour the drive approaches, sidewalk and ramps Friday May 26th (weather permitting), or early the following week if necessary. Sod restoration is expected to be performed in the next couple weeks.

Girard Road

Girard Road has been paved and is currently closed to traffic while the road cures. The road is scheduled to be open to local traffic only late next week, but access from Rochester Road will be closed. The contractor plans to pour the parking lanes on each side of Girard Road, just east of Rochester Road, the week of May 30th.

S. Edison Avenue

The contractor plans to perform the final water main connection on S. Edison Avenue on Saturday May 27th. Properties that will be without water during water main connections will be notified via door hanger the day beforehand. This shutdown will last approximately 8 hours. Grading and paving preparation work will begin after Memorial Day.

Wrenford Road

Sod restoration is expected during the week of May 30th.

Massoit Road

Sod restoration is expected during the week of May 30th.

W. Park Avenue

The contractor tentatively plans to connect individual water services to the new water main during the week of May 30th. The final water main connection is also scheduled for next week. Properties that will be without water during water main connections will be notified via door hanger the day beforehand. Shutdowns are typically 4 to 8 hours long.

CAP1535 Sherman Drive Construction

Contractor: Hard Rock Concrete, Inc.

The contractor has paved the north side of Sherman Drive from N. West Street to Maxwell Avenue (Phase II below), and plans to pour the south side of the road after Memorial Day. The intersection at Maxwell Avenue will remain open for north/south traffic.

The contractor will continue sidewalk installation within Phase I. Sherman Drive between Forestdale Road and the Sherman Oaks condos is open to local traffic only.

CAP1710 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: F.D.M. Contracting, Inc.

Bellaire Avenue

The contractor has completed paving the north portion of Bellaire Avenue. The pavement gaps at business driveways are tentatively scheduled to be poured late next week.

N. Vermont Avenue and Ferris Avenue

The contractor plans to place the other half of remaining concrete after Memorial Day weekend. Concrete for the sidewalks and driveway approaches is also scheduled for the same time period.

Rochester Road

The contractor plans to transfer individual water service connections to the new water main the week of May 30th. Connection from the existing water main to the new water main is also planned for next week. Properties that will be without water during water main connections will be notified via door hanger the day beforehand. Shutdowns are typically 4 to 8 hours long.

The easternmost lane of northbound Rochester Road will have intermittent lane closures during work hours.

Public Alley

The water main has been installed in the public alley that runs between W. Sixth Street and W. Seventh Street, just east of S. Washington Avenue. The contractor plans to chlorinate and test the new water main over the holiday weekend. Water services are scheduled to be connected after Memorial Day. The alley will remain closed to traffic.

Street parking will be closed on W. Seventh Street between S. Washington Avenue and S. Center Street for the next several weeks.

CAP1505 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Co., Inc.

The contractor does not plan to perform work over the holiday weekend, Friday through Monday. During the week of May 30th the contractor plans to continue work on the project streets located south of 12 Mile Road.

One half of each street will be done now, and the other half will be performed at a later date. Within this area, Marywood Drive will not be worked on until after school is out for the year.

2017 Sidewalk Improvement Program

Contractor: Italia Construction, Inc.

The contractor is nearing completion in the area between Delemere Boulevard and Crooks Road, and will begin work between Crooks Road and Main Street after Memorial Day. More information on the program can be found at www.romi.gov/sidewalks.

MDOT - Woodward Avenue Work

MDOT will have rolling lane closures along Woodward Avenue until mid-June to allow for catch basin repairs. Closures will take place in the outer lanes of the roadway, and only one lane will be closed at a time.
