CAP1735 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.

Batavia Avenue

The contractor has started water main installation, which will continue throughout the week of May 22nd.

Several water services on Batavia have galvanized piping, which is typically fragile and prone to breaks. If a water service breaks during construction, the city will perform an emergency shutdown. Emergency shutdowns for service repairs typically last about 2 hours. As the contractor comes across galvanized water services, the city will notify individual residents.

Fairview Avenue

The contractor is planning to begin work on Fairview Avenue after Memorial Day.

The remaining streets are scheduled to be reconstructed in the following order:

Dallas Avenue: Helene Avenue to Stephenson Highway
Kalama Avenue: Brinkey Avenue to Stephenson Highway
Brinkey Avenue: Kalama Avenue to Harwood Avenue
Lockwood Avenue: Catalpa Drive to Crane Avenue

CAP1715 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries, Inc.

Phase 1 paving work is complete.

The contractor will be repairing the road base and adjusting structures on Phase 2 streets during the week of May 22nd. The contractor tentatively plans to pave Phase 2 streets at the end of the week, before the holiday weekend (weather permitting). Residents will be able to access their driveways during the paving work, but there may be slight delays while waiting for equipment to move.

Work on Phase 3 streets is expected to begin after Memorial Day.

The contractor will wait to place sod / seed for Phases 1 and 3 until the sidewalk program in the area is complete to avoid damaging newly restored areas. More information regarding the sidewalk program is available below.

CAP1630 Special Assessment Paving Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.

Bassett Road

Basset Road has been paved, and is expected to be open to traffic by Thursday May 25th. The sidewalks and driveways are expected to be poured late next week, or after the holiday weekend depending on weather.

Girard Road

The contractor is planning to place concrete on Monday May 22nd. The road will be closed to traffic for the entire week.

S. Edison Avenue

The contractor plans to connect the water main and begin transferring services on Saturday May 20th. Properties that will be without water during water main connections will be notified via door hanger the day beforehand. Shutdowns are typically 4 to 8 hours long. The final water main connection is scheduled for Saturday May 27th and paving work will begin after the holiday.

Wrenford Road

The contractor plans to install the new sidewalk and driveway approaches on Friday May 19th and sod restoration is expected during the week of May 22nd.

Massoit Road

The contractor plans to install the new sidewalk and driveway approaches on Friday May 19th and sod restoration is expected during the week of May 22nd.

W. Park Avenue

The contractor plans to connect individual water services to the new water main during the week of May 22nd. The final water main connection is also scheduled for next week. Properties that will be without water during water main connections will be notified via door hanger the day beforehand. Shutdowns are typically 4 to 8 hours long.

CAP1535 Sherman Drive Construction

Contractor: Hard Rock Concrete, Inc.

The contractor is planning to pave the north side of Sherman Drive from N. West Street to Maxwell Avenue on Monday May 22nd (Phase II below).

The contractor will also joint seal the new pavement between Forestdale Road and the Sherman Oaks condos on Monday (Phase I below) and this section of Sherman Drive is expected to be open to traffic on Tuesday May 23rd. The contractor will begin excavation between the Sherman Oaks condos and Maxwell Avenue once Phase I is open to traffic.

CAP1710 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: F.D.M. Contracting, Inc.

Bellaire Avenue

The contractor plans to begin paving the north portion of Bellaire Avenue on Monday May 22nd. The contractor will leave gaps at business driveways to allow half the driveway to be accessed.

N. Vermont Avenue and Ferris Avenue

The contractor plans to place the other half of remaining concrete after Memorial Day weekend. Concrete for the sidewalks and driveway approaches is also scheduled for the same time period.

Rochester Road

The contractor will test the new water main during the week of May 22nd. The contractor will connect the new water main to the city’s system once the testing is complete, likely the following week. The easternmost lane of northbound Rochester Road will have intermittent lane closures during work hours.

Public Alley

New water main will be installed in the public alley that runs between W. Sixth Street and W. Seventh Street, just east of S. Washington Avenue. Work is scheduled to begin the week of May 22nd. Street parking will be closed on W. Seventh Street between S. Washington Avenue and S. Center Street for approximately one month.

CAP1505 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Co., Inc.

During the week of May 22nd the contractor plans to remove concrete on the project streets located south of 12 Mile Road. One half of the street will be done now, and the other half will be performed at a later date. The contractor plans to pour concrete on the streets south of Catalpa Drive during the week of May 22. Within this area, Marywood Drive will not be worked on until after school is out for the year.

2017 Sidewalk Improvement Program

Contractor: Italia Construction, Inc.

The contractor will continue working in the area bounded by 13 Mile Road and 14 Mile Road, between Delemere and Crooks Road during the week of May 22nd. More information on the program can be found at www.romi.gov/sidewalks.

MDOT - Woodward Avenue Work

MDOT will have nightly lane closures for joint sealing work on Woodward Avenue in the area between I-696 to 14 Mile Road starting May 15th and ending May 26th. The work will begin at 9 p.m. and extend until 5 a.m.

A minimum of one lane, with a maximum closure length of 2 miles, will be open to traffic during working hours.

MDOT will also be making daily lane closures for drainage structure adjustments starting May 2nd through June.
