Important Deadlines:

Friday, October 31 @ 5pm - Deadline for voters who have lost their absentee ballot or not yet received their ballot in the mail to submit a written request to spoil their absent voter ballot and receive a new absent voter ballot by mail.

Happy Halloween

Halloween is One Week Away!

We hope your costumes are spooky, your candy bowls are full, and your pumpkins are glowing bright! 

Just a friendly reminder: Royal Oak does not set official trick-or-treat hours. It’s up to each household and parent’s discretion. In general, a porch light turned on during Halloween evening is a universal sign that trick-or-treaters are welcome.

Here are a few quick safety tips for a frightfully fun night:

  • Choose costumes that are short enough to prevent trips or tangles — and avoid flammable materials.
  • Give kids flashlights, reflective wristbands or belts, or glow sticks to help them be seen.
  • Keep decorations like dried flowers and cornstalks away from open flames and heat sources.
  • Use flashlights or battery-operated candles inside your jack-o-lanterns — they’re much safer than real flames.

Ruck 22 March

Save the Date

The Royal Oak Ruck 22 March returns Saturday, Nov. 8 at 10 AM. Join us for a 2.2-mile walk to honor our veterans and raise awareness for the 22* who die by suicide every day in the USA.

Participants are asked to carry 22 pounds — or 22 food/personal items — or to donate $22 to veterans in need.

* In 2013, a VA study revealed a heartbreaking statistic — an average of 22 veterans were dying by suicide each day. Thanks to increased awareness, community support, and better access to care, that number has since declined. In 2022, the VA reported an average of 17.6 veterans per day.

That’s progress — but even one is too many. Together, we can keep moving that number down.  Your compassion, your voice, and your participation make a difference.

Back-in Parkin Returns

Downtown Royal Oak’s Washington Ave. Returns to Pull-in Parking

The City of Royal Oak has announced that the back-in, angled parking spaces on Washington Ave. between 4th St. and Lincoln Ave. will be replaced with traditional pull-in spaces.

The work of repainting the parking lines is set to begin on Monday, Oct. 6. It will be performed by PK Contracting of Troy.
