Orson Starr House

Celebrate 180 Years of the Orson Starr House!

Sunday, Oct. 19 at 10 AM at 3123 N. Main Street.

Step back in time and walk in the footsteps of one of Royal Oak’s earliest and most successful pioneers — Orson Starr — as we celebrate the 180th birthday of his historic home.

  • History Tour: “Following the Starrs’ Tracks”: Kick off the celebration with a walking history tour that connects the lives of the Starr family with their close neighbors and friends.
  • Open House & Exhibits: Explore the home’s collection of artifacts, tools, and stories from the 1800s. Learn about the Starr family’s bell-making legacy, Royal Oak’s early settlement, and the shared history of resilience and innovation among its pioneers.
  • Birthday Celebration: Join us for light refreshments and birthday cake as we honor 180 years of history, craftsmanship, and community spirit.
  • Bonus: Attendees will receive a bonus keepsake calendar (while supplies last.)

Keep Halloween Fun & Fire-Free!

Before your little ones head out, remember these quick safety tips from the Royal Oak Fire Department:

  • Use glow sticks or battery candles instead of real flames in pumpkins.
  • Keep decorations—like hay, cornstalks & paper—away from heat or open flames.
  • Avoid long, trailing costumes & make sure masks don’t block vision.
  • Keep exits clear of decorations.
  • Carry a flashlight or glow stick for visibility.
  • Test smoke alarms & remind kids how to stop, drop & roll!

Have a frightfully safe night, Royal Oak!
