The City of Royal Oak, MI, and Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner (WRC) have not one but two RainSmart Informational Events coming up in the next few weeks. The first will be at the Royal Oak Library on February 27th at 6 PM, and the second at Brown Iron Brewhouse on March 5th at 6 PM.
Royal Oak Residents and neighboring communities can join the RainSmart Rebates pilot program and earn rebates for installing green stormwater infrastructure on their property. Beautify your space while managing stormwater effectively! We are hosting two informational workshops for you to learn more and submit an application. Applications open on March 1, 2025.
RainSmart Rebates is a two-year residential pilot program geared towards homeowners in the George W. Kuhn Drain Drainage District. The pilot offers homeowners up to $2,000 for implementing sustainable stormwater practices such as tree planting, rain barrel installation, or creating a rain garden on their properties. The primary goals of the program include fostering awareness about stormwater management and promoting environmental stewardship.
You do not need to live in Royal Oak to attend the informational sessions. All neighbors are welcome! Sign-ups are encouraged as space is limited, and these events were quite popular last year. Questions? Reach out to sustainability@romi.gov
