The Michigan Battle of the Bands

The City of Royal Oak & Michigan Battle of the Buildings are partnering to offer local businesses, organizations, and community buildings the opportunity to lower their building energy use. Local businesses in the Royal Oak community can join the Michigan Battle of the Buildings and receive the following benefits:

  • Get FREE energy benchmarking for one year
  • Receive a FREE energy walkthrough and recommendations from the Small Business Association of Michigan
  • Receive a building scorecard
  • Get access to utility rebate matching

The Michigan Battle of the Buildings is a state-wide awards and recognition program open to various building types in the state of Michigan for achievements made in energy and water use reduction. There is no cost to join or participate.

There are two informational sessions to learn more about this opportunity!

Yes, Royal Oak has an Underground Railroad history.

Don't miss the grand opening of A Tangled Web: Stories of African Americans in 19th Century Royal Oak. The exhibit explores the relationship between the Black community in Royal Oak and the Underground Railroad network in Detroit.

If you go to the Grand Opening:

  • When: Sunday, January 12 from 2-4 p.m.
  • Where: Royal Oak Historical Society Museum, 1411 W. Webster Rd. at Crooks

The exhibit runs through May.
