Use the map above to see if a project is affecting your street. The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project.

CAP2407 Crooks Road

N. Main Street to 13 Mile Road

This week the contractor will continue pavement removals for the watermain installation, working southward toward Webster.

One lane will be open for traffic in each direction throughout construction. Left turns will be prohibited for northbound and southbound traffic throughout the corridor to reduce traffic backups. Access to businesses will be maintained during construction.

CAP2415/2416 Asphalt Resurfacing

This project will resurface several streets in the residential neighborhoods and the downtown.

CAP2416 Downtown

This week the contractor has scheduled the top (final) layer of asphalt for Tuesday April 30th and Wednesday May 1st  - weather permitting.

Once complete the contractor will schedule painting of the roadway, parking and sidewalk markings. 

Any inclement weather may cause this work to be rescheduled.

CAP2415 Neighborhoods

Phase 2: The contractor will finish the remaining curb and driveway work this week on Maple, W Sixth, and S. Pleasant. The contractor has tentatively scheduled the milling of the existing roadways on Phase 2 streets for May 2nd and May 6th

Phase 3: Work is scheduled to begin on W. Hudson, likely towards the end of the week.

CAP2435 Road Reconstruction

This project will completely reconstruct several roads in the city. The table below shows the streets that will be reconstructed this year and the full project map linked above shows the project streets in green. New water main will also be installed on Parkview and Vinsetta.

On Albert Avenue, the contractor will continue to complete the prep work for new road pavement and tentatively plans to pour the new concrete roadway later this week.

On Samoset, both east and west sections were poured last Friday and the roadway will remain closed for at least a week while the new concrete cures and gains strength.

On Parkview, the contractor is working on water services and water main connections this week.

On Vinsetta, the new water main will be undergoing testing this week.

On Nakota, the contractor has begun removing the existing pavement. The crew plans to install new edge drain and finish all the grading by the end of the week.

 *As part of this project the contractor will also be installing traffic calming chicanes on Marais Avenue between Thistle and Lexington as approved by the city commission.

CAP2405 Concrete Street Repairs

This project will replace some of the worst panels on the project streets shown in light blue on the project map linked above.

The contractor plans to continue saw-cutting the roadway sections to be replaced in advance of construction.  The contractor will work on the streets in phases as shown below. Removals are tentatively scheduled to begin this week.

The removals will start at the 3 locations west of Coolidge in Phase 1 - Starr, Chester and Mandalay (with first halves).  Then the contractor will move easterly from Coolidge to the Phase 2 streets north of 13 Mile.

The contractor will work on one side of the street at a time to maintain access for residents during construction.

CAP2410 Water Main Improvements

This year the city will be installing new water main on the following streets:

  • Northwood Boulevard from Woodward Avenue to Crooks Road
  • Sycamore Avenue from Northwood Boulevard to Bonnie View Drive

This project is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of May 13th.  The project also includes asphalt resurfacing, concrete pavement repairs, curbing, some sidewalk and driveway approaches, sidewalk ramps, and lawn restoration. Speed humps will also be installed on Northwood Boulevard as approved by the Citizens Traffic Committee and City Commission.

CAP2440 Green Infrastructure Improvements

Sheridan Drive - Arden Place - Grandview Road

This project will take place this summer to improve stormwater run-off and drainage around the intersections of Sheridan Drive, Arden Place and Grandview Road. Work is tentatively scheduled to begin mid-May and includes the following work as shown on the map below:

  • Installation of new water main and water services on Sheridan Drive between Grandview Road and Wrenford Road (east half of block)
  • Replacement of some water services on Arden Place within construction zone
  • Closure of the eastern leg/fork of Arden Place roadway and replacing with rain gardens
  • New concrete road pavement
  • Replacement of driveway approaches
  • Lawn restoration and tree plantings

CAP2402 Sidewalk Program

Notices of construction and estimates have been mailed to property owners within the target area for the sidewalk program this year. Letters were mailed to ALL property owners even if their estimate was $0.00.

This project is tentatively scheduled to begin in early May.
