Use the map above to see if a project is affecting your street. The city realizes construction will be an inconvenience and all efforts to expedite the work will be utilized to minimize traffic conflicts and access to various properties abutting the project.

CAP2306 Rochester Road

This week the contractor will be working on water main installation south of 12 Mile Road.

Turn Restrictions and Closures:

Left turns will not be allowed for northbound and southbound traffic at 12 Mile Road, Girard Avenue and at 13 Mile Road during construction to avoid backups. Northbound Rochester Road will be completely closed between Gardenia Avenue and Dewey Street. Local access to the Oakview Cemetery and Rite Aid will remain open.

CAP2308 Major Road Improvements

Vinsetta Boulevard:

The contractor plans to place the final layer of asphalt this week, beginning on Thursday. Once complete, landscape restoration will begin.

Normandy Road:

The contractor is continuing work on water main installation this week, between Crooks and Linwood.

Normandy Road will be closed to thru traffic throughout construction. Residents with driveways on Normandy will still be able to enter the construction zone via the side streets to access their property. Businesses should direct their patrons, employees and deliveries to use Coolidge to access Normandy Road to minimize conflicts with construction work.

Lincoln Avenue:

The contractor is working on curbing and road base repairs this week. The contractor has tentatively scheduled to begin paving early next week.

CAP2305 Concrete Repair Program

This week the contractor will be removing road pavement sections in the Phase 3 neighborhood, pouring the new concrete at the end of the week.

The contractor will also begin saw-cutting in Phase 4 if time allows.

Work will only be performed on one side of the street at a time, to maintain access for residents throughout construction. Only the worst sections of concrete pavement will be removed and replaced, not the entire roadway. If driveway access will be affected, residents will be notified the day beforehand via doorhanger.

CAP2310 Water Main Improvements

Longfellow

This week the city's contractor is working with the Department of Public Services to replace water lines for the residents with lead/galvanized services. Once this work is complete the contractor will resume transferring the remaining water services, perform the final water main connection and begin road restoration.

Sixth St

The contractor has begun water main installation on Sixth Street, working their way east from Knowles.

CAP2315 Asphalt Resurfacing

The project streets shown in purple on the project map have been divided into three phases as shown below.

Phase 1

On Hawthorn and N. Wilson, paving is scheduled for Thursday this week. Paving on Forest has been put on hold while the Department of Public Services investigates and televises the public storm sewer.

Phase 2 & 3 - Underground Work

The city's underground contractor has finished the storm sewer installations. The Department of Public Services will be reviewing water services on Etowah over the next few weeks to see if any need replacement prior to road work starting.

CAP2335 Road Reconstruction

Parkdale (Vermont to N. Wilson)

The roadwork is substantially complete and the contractor will begin working on lawn restoration, and finishing some minor concrete work.

Woodsboro

This week the contractor will be cleaning and prepping to place the new driveway approaches. The roadway has been poured and will be-opened once the concrete has strengthened enough to drive on again. (Paving on Vinsetta at the intersection is scheduled for Thursday.)

E. Hudson

The contractor will be grading and prepping the roadway for the new pavement this week.

Helene

The contractor is starting work on Helene this week. The contractor will begin work on the north half of the block, stopping at Middlesex (so that Middlesex residents still can access their homes during construction. The contractor will be removing pavement, curbing and driveway approaches, starting on the west side of the roadway.

CAP2302 Sidewalk Improvement Program

The sidewalk improvement program is tentatively scheduled to begin in June. Notices of Construction with estimates were mailed to property owners in April.

If you disagree with the estimate for sidewalk replacement adjacent to your home, you can call the engineering office to schedule an appointment to meet with the inspector for the project and review the sidewalk work.

RCOC Greenfield & Normandy Roundabout

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will be installing a roundabout at the intersection of Greenfield Road and Normandy Road this summer. The intersection will close when construction begins, the week of June 12th.
