CAP2010 Water Main Improvements
Contractor: FDM Contracting, Inc.
The city's contractor has been authorized to use the northeast section of VFW Park for construction staging and material storage. The area will be fenced off for public safety. Vehicles will enter/exit using Campbell Road and Sixth Street. Once the project is complete, the disturbed areas will be re-graded and restored with topsoil and seed. The contractor will also make some park improvements by planting new trees and installing new picnic tables.
Fifth Street - The north side of the intersection at Alexander & Fifth was closed last week for restoration and will be re-opened to traffic this week once the concrete has cured.
The contractor will begin working on the south side of Fifth Street, removing curbing and driveway approaches, and prepping for new concrete. Residents will receive a driveway access notice via door hanger the day beforehand, so they can move their vehicles prior to crews arriving.
S. Rembrandt Avenue - After the final water main connection today (Monday), crews will be performing pavement repairs in the alleyway while the new concrete on the west side of Rembrandt finishes curing.
Seventh Street - This week, mid- to late-week, the contractor will begin removing curbing and driveway approaches on the south side of the roadway, and prepping for new concrete.
S. Altadena Avenue - The two final water main connections will be scheduled this week. Affected residents will be notified the day beforehand, via door hanger, with the shut off time and duration. Once the connections are complete, the contractor will begin work on pavement restoration.
S. Vermont Avenue - The contractor will continue transferring individual water services to the new main this week and addressing lead or galvanized services.
Helene Avenue - The west side of the intersection at Dallas and Helene will be closed to traffic for pavement restoration. Sections of pavement on the west side of Helene, between Brockton and Dallas will also be replaced, as well as some sidewalks and ramps.
Longfellow Avenue - The first water main connection will be scheduled this week. Any residents affected by the shut-off will receive a notice the day beforehand, via door hanger, with the time and duration. Once the connection is complete the contractor will begin transferring water services and addressing private water services that are lead or galvanized.
