City Hall Closure & Move August 11 - 19


The engineering division will be unavailable from Tuesday August 11 through Wednesday August 19. Staff will be moving into the new City Hall building.

CAP1909 MDOT 14 Mile Road Resurfacing

Contractor: Florence Cement Company


The north half of 14 Mile Road is currently closed for the second phase of construction with traffic shifted to the south side of the roadway. One travel lane is open in each direction. Left turns are prohibited at several side streets along the corridor.


The contractor is finishing up Phase II work for the final paving before switching the traffic lanes and moving to Phase III.

CAP2005 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Italia Construction, Inc.


The contractor will be going south to north on the various project streets, working on several streets at once. They will be working on one side of the street at a time to maintain access throughout construction. Signs stating 'No Parking 7am - 8pm' will be placed by the contractor as necessary.

The week of August 11th, the contractor will be working on the project streets between 13 Mile Road and 14 Mile Road, from Campbell to Rochester and from Rochester to Main. The contractor is cutting out specified deteriorated sections of road pavement and restoring with new concrete, working on one side of the street at a time.

CAP2010 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting, Inc.


The city's contractor has been authorized to use the northeast section of VFW Park for construction staging and material storage. The area will be fenced off for public safety. Vehicles will enter/exit using Campbell Road and Sixth Street. Once the project is complete, the disturbed areas will be re-graded and restored with topsoil and seed. The contractor will also make some park improvements by planting new trees and installing new picnic tables.

Fifth Street - The north side of the intersection at Alexander & Fifth was closed last week for restoration and will be re-opened to traffic this week once the concrete has cured.

The contractor will begin working on the south side of Fifth Street, removing curbing and driveway approaches, and prepping for new concrete. Residents will receive a driveway access notice via door hanger the day beforehand, so they can move their vehicles prior to crews arriving.

S. Rembrandt Avenue - After the final water main connection today (Monday), crews will be performing pavement repairs in the alleyway while the new concrete on the west side of Rembrandt finishes curing.

Seventh Street - This week, mid- to late-week, the contractor will begin removing curbing and driveway approaches on the south side of the roadway, and prepping for new concrete.

S. Altadena Avenue - The two final water main connections will be scheduled this week. Affected residents will be notified the day beforehand, via door hanger, with the shut off time and duration. Once the connections are complete, the contractor will begin work on pavement restoration.

S. Vermont Avenue - The contractor will continue transferring individual water services to the new main this week and addressing lead or galvanized services.

Helene Avenue - The west side of the intersection at Dallas and Helene will be closed to traffic for pavement restoration. Sections of pavement on the west side of Helene, between Brockton and Dallas will also be replaced, as well as some sidewalks and ramps.

Longfellow Avenue - The first water main connection will be scheduled this week. Any residents affected by the shut-off will receive a notice the day beforehand, via door hanger, with the time and duration. Once the connection is complete the contractor will begin transferring water services and addressing private water services that are lead or galvanized.

CAP2015 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries


Phase 2 Streets – The contractor will be paving the first layer of asphalt on the project streets early this week. Then the contractor will begin adjusting manhole structures for the final height of the pavement. The top layer of HMA paving is tentatively scheduled for the beginning of next week.

Phase 3 Streets –  The week of August 11th, the contractor will be removing & replacing curbing and some driveway approaches with new concrete on the east side of Maplewood, then moving on to the east side of Glenview. 

NOTE: In case of extreme high temperatures, the city will allow the contractor to begin pouring new concrete at 6:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m. If this happens, residents of the block will receive a notice the day beforehand via door hanger. Concrete removal operations would still not be allowed to begin until 7:00 a.m.

CAP2015 Phases

CAP2035 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc


The contractor plans to joint-seal the new roadways this week. This is a one day operation and will create a fair amount of dust as they clean out the joints. Residents are advised to keep their windows closed during this time.

Knowles Street -
The week of August 11th, the contractor plans to pour the new stamped, colored streetscapes and new concrete driveway approaches, sidewalks and ramps.

Chester Road & Hillside Drive - The contractor plans to open the new driveway approaches Tuesday, once they confirm curing strength.

Massoit Road - The contractor will be replacing some cracked panels on roadway this week.

Delaware Avenue - The contractor will be re-locating sprinklers this week and planting new trees.

Crane Avenue - The contractor will be working on pavement removal, adjustments and replacement at the intersection this week.

The contractor is doing foundation work this week at the 13 Mile Road & Campbell Road intersection. Once complete, they will move on to 13 Mile Road & Rochester Road.

The contractor is also performing underground work at the 12 Mile Road & Crooks Road intersection this week.
