Status of 2020 Construction Projects The governor has authorized construction operations to begin again starting on Thursday, May 7th. The city's contractors are required to submit a COVID-19 safety plan to the city engineer for approval and are required to have an on-site supervisor in charge of monitoring COVID-19 safety procedures.

CAP1909 MDOT 14 Mile Road ResurfacingContractor: Florence Cement Company The north half of 14 Mile Road is currently closed for the second phase of construction with traffic shifted to the south side of the roadway. One travel lane is open in each direction. Left turns are prohibited at several side streets along the corridor.
The week of June 29th, the contractor is continuing work on concrete curbing and pavement repairs and sidewalks.

CAP2005 Concrete Street RepairsContractor: Italia Construction, Inc. The contractor will be going south to north on the various project streets, working on several streets at once. They will be working on one side of the street at a time to maintain access throughout construction. Signs stating 'No Parking 7am - 8pm' will be placed by the contractor as necessary.
Work has begun at the south end of the project between 11 Mile Road and 12 Mile Road. The contractor will be cutting out bad sections of road pavement and restoring with new concrete.

CAP1910/2010 Water Main ImprovementsContractor: FDM Contracting, Inc. The city's contractor has been authorized to use the northeast section of VFW Park for construction staging and material storage. The area will be fenced off for public safety. Vehicles will enter/exit using Campbell Road and Sixth Street. Once the project is complete, the disturbed areas will be re-graded and restored with topsoil and seed. The contractor will also make some park improvements by planting new trees and installing new picnic tables.
E. Harrison Avenue - The week of June 29th, the contractor will be finishing restoration work.
Fifth Street - This week the contractors will be addressing individual water services that are lead or galvanized.
Seventh Street, S. Rembrandt Avenue & Alley - The contractor will begin transferring water services and addressing individual services that are lead or galvanized. Residents will receive a knock on the door to inform them before their service is transferred to the new main. Typically this is a short operation and the water will be turned off for only 20-30 minutes.
Altadena Avenue - The newly installed water main is currently undergoing testing. Once complete the first connection will be performed. Any residents affected by a water shut-off will be notified via door hanger the day beforehand.
S. Vermont Avenue - The new water main has been installed and will undergo testing this week.
Helene Avenue - Water main installation will continue this week on Helene Avenue from Brockton Avenue to Barrett Avenue.
Longfellow Avenue - Consumers Energy is finishing restoration from their earlier work. Water main installation is tentatively scheduled to begin July 6th.

CAP2050 CDBG Judson Avenue PavingJudson Avenue from Prairie Avenue to Harvard RoadContractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc Judson Avenue is mostly complete. Remaining areas of concrete sidewalk, ramps and approaches will be finished this week. Once all concrete pavement and sidewalk work is completed and cured, the contractor will begin restoration work.

CAP2015 Asphalt Resurfacing ImprovementsContractor: AJAX Paving Industries Phase 1 Streets - The contractor will be paving the final layer of asphalt on the Phase 1 streets the week of June 29th. Once complete, the contractor will begin clean up work and restoration.
The northeast corner of Sunset Boulevard and Woodsboro Drive curbing will be replaced once Consumers Energy finishes repair work.
Phase 2 Streets – The contractor will begin work on the Phase 2 streets the week of July 6th, beginning on Woodslee Drive.

CAP2009 Lincoln Avenue ResurfacingLincoln Avenue from Woodward Avenue to Lafayette AvenueContractor: Asphalt Specialists, Inc Lincoln Avenue will be closed to traffic during construction and only one-way traffic will be allowed on Lincoln Avenue, eastbound, between Woodward Avenue and Lafayette Avenue.
The contractor plans to mill the existing roadway the week of June 29th. Once complete the contractor will schedule to pave the new base layer of roadway.

CAP2035 Road Reconstruction ImprovementsContractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc Delaware Avenue - The week of June 29th, the contractor will pour the last half of the intersection at E. Parent Avenue and begin grading work for the new sidewalk.
Knowles Street and Lenox Avenue - The new concrete has been placed. Once curing is complete the contractor will open the roadway and continue work.
Massoit Road - The contractor plans to backfill mid-week and prep driveway approaches for new concrete.
Chester Road - The contractor will be prepping the roadway for new pavement, which is scheduled to be poured early the week of July 6th.
Hillside Drive - The contractor will continue with pavement removal and sub-grade removal. New road base will be installed once complete.

CAP1941 11 Mile Road and 13 Mile Road Traffic Signal ImprovementsContractor: Dan's ExcavatingThe contractor has finished installing foundations for the new mast arm traffic signals on 11 Mile Road at the intersections of Washington Avenue, Center Street and Main Street. The contractor will start foundation work at the 11 Mile Road and Troy Street intersection the week of June 29th.
