Status of 2020 Construction Projects


The city's contractors are required to submit a COVID-19 safety plan to the city engineer
for approval and are required to have an on-site supervisor in charge of monitoring
COVID-19 safety procedures.

CAP1909 MDOT 14 Mile Road Resurfacing

Contractor: Florence Cement Company

The north half of 14 Mile Road is currently closed for the second phase of construction with traffic shifted to the south side of the roadway. One travel lane is open in each direction. Left turns are prohibited at several side streets along the corridor.

The week of June 8th, the contractor is working on pavement base repairs. Some areas of concrete have already been poured and are curing.

CAP1910/2010 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: FDM Contracting, Inc

The city's contractor has been authorized to use the northeast section of VFW Park for construction staging and material storage. The area will be fenced off for public safety. Vehicles will enter/exit using Campbell Road and Sixth Street. Once the project is complete, the disturbed areas will be re-graded and restored with topsoil and seed. The contractor will also make some park improvements by planting new trees and installing new picnic tables.

E. Harrison Avenue - The week of June 15th, pavement restoration will continue on E. Harrison Avenue, primarily east of Knowles Street. The contractor will also be installing new curbing on the west side of Batavia Avenue at E. Harrison Avenue.

Fifth Street – There will be a water connection on Monday June 15th, and affected residents were notified.  Water services will be transferred throughout the week.

Seventh Street, S. Rembrandt Avenue & Alley – Bacteria testing will be completed mid- week, and there will likely be a water shutdown to connect the new water main to the city’s system later in the week.  Affected residents will be notified.

S. Altadena Avenue – the contractor will be performing pressure testing and bacteria testing of the new water main pipe during the week.

S. Vermont Avenue – the contractor will mobilize to the street the week of June 15th and
will begin pavement removals and installation of piping.

CAP2050 CDBG Judson Avenue Paving

Judson Avenue from Prairie Avenue to Harvard Road
Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc

The road was opened to traffic, and the contractor plans to install driveway approaches
and sidewalk during the week of June 15th.

CAP2015 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries

Maple Avenue - The contractor plans to begin curbing and driveway work on the east
side of the roadway.

Phase 1 Streets - The contractor is tentatively scheduled to lower manhole covers and
then mill the asphalt pavement towards the end of the week. Asphalt paving is scheduled
for the week of June 22.


CAP2015 Phases

CAP2009 Lincoln Avenue Resurfacing

Lincoln Avenue from Woodward Avenue to Lafayette Avenue
Contractor: Asphalt Specialists, Inc

Lincoln Avenue will be closed to traffic during construction and only one-way traffic will be allowed on Lincoln Avenue, eastbound, between Woodward Avenue and Lafayette Avenue.

The contractor has finished the curbing and driveway approaches on the north side of
Lincoln Avenue, and will backfill behind the curb during the week of June 15th. Later in
the week the traffic will be shifted to the north half of the road and curbing removals will
begin on the south side of the road.

CAP2035 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc


Delaware Avenue – The road will remain closed throughout the week while the concrete
cures.

Knowles Street - The contractor will be pouring concrete this week. Once complete, the
street will remain closed for one week while the concrete cures.

Lenox Avenue - The contractor plans to finish road grading and pour concrete my midweek.
Once complete, the street will remain closed for one week while the concrete
cures.
Massoit Road – The contractor will be installing edgedrain and grading the roadway
during the week. Concrete will be poured at the end of the week or possibly the following
week.

CAP1941 11 Mile Road and 13 Mile Road Traffic Signal

Contractor: Dans Excavating

During the week of June 15th the contractor will be installing foundations and boring underground conduit for new traffic signals on 11 Mile Road at the intersections of Washington Avenue, Center Street and Main Street.
